I hope we continue NOT to speculate about something especially if unsubstantiated. Considering that assumptions are NOT factual, any discussion about it is just very unnecessary. So to avoid disagreements, let's just stick to FACTS (that is, one TRUE/ REAL version as opposed to MANY versions of the story)..

It's better to discuss about FACTS than speculations & presumptions.

It's good for the mind & heart.

Healthy discussions & disagreements based on FACTS is what I believe everyone prefers.

Angelina Jolie inspires South Florida woman to test for BRAC1 gene mutation

Doctor encourages patient with history of cancer to test for gene mutation

By Kristi Krueger - Anchor/Health Reporter

Posted: 3:58 PM, October 10, 2016

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - When mega movie star Angelina Jolie went public about testing positive for the BRAC1 gene mutation, it sparked a national conversation and heightened interest on genetic testing.

"If somebody so famous as Angelina Jolie went through it, patients are encouraged to be aggressive and be in charge to do whatever they can to prevent breast cancer from happening," Dr. Adriana Milillo said.

Milillo, a breast medical oncologist at Memorial Healthcare System, said that while genetic testing can be useful, not everyone is a candidate.

Certain risk factors must be present. These include a patient who has a close blood relative who carries a generic mutation, a male blood relative diagnosed with breast cancer or two family members from the same side of the family with one diagnosed with breast cancer before the age 50.

Milillo's patient, Joanne Levy, met the criteria.

"Cancer runs on both sides of my family," she said. "(There's) breast cancer on my mother's side, and my grandmother and my aunt passed from breast cancer."

In 2015, Levy was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy and is still undergoing treatment. With a family and now a personal history of breast cancer, Milillo recommended that Levy get tested for a gene mutation.

"We decided together that it would be a good thing to get genetic testing, so I would know the probability of breast cancer coming back for me and me possibly passing it on," Levy said.
"We see the patients in the clinic, and when we capture this condition, we do the appropriate referral for genetic counseling," Milillo said. "We meet after to discuss the results."

From the time blood is drawn and sent to a lab, it can take up to four weeks to receive the results.

"It was scary waiting for the results, but it was important for me to know," Levy said. "Fortunately for me, it came back negative."

The result has given Levy, a wife and mother, renewed strength to keep fighting and eventually win her battle against breast cancer.

"I'm very happy to be here," Levy said. "I am very happy that every morning I can get up and open my eyes and see a new day."

Time is a healer..and that is the way it has been since time started. We can speculate as to the nature of the Jolie-Pitt family at this point in time, but as neer pointed out, we don't know them and we are not involved in their daily lives..we were only 'allowed' a very brief and small glimpse into their private world. I want to respect them and their decision in whatever it is. And yes, no news is good news.

Maleficent Costume & Make-up: How To Dress-up Like Angelina Jolie

By Rubelle Carmeli Tan on October 12, 2016

A Maleficent costume is your best bet if you want to make a statement during this year’s Halloween parties. The character merges beauty and fear, which Angelina Jolie depicted perfectly. Her look certainly sets her apart from other evil witches.

Angelina Jolie’s performance may have helped the popularity of the character. She also shines just like the stunning special effects in the movie.

After all, Maleficent is still a fairy, an evil one that is. Surprisingly, Maleficent’s costume, with the horns and headdress, can make some girls to look like one. But still feel elegant and beautiful. She can even look like Angelina Jolie.

Maleficent Costume: Some Tips

A Maleficent costume is readily available in the market. But custom-made DIY horns are the solution when on a budget. All that is needed is some creative juices. Videos are also available for a DIY tutorial of Maleficent horns.

Girls could also make a DIY Maleficent dress, which also comes with her signature staff and looks easy to do. To complete the look, check a step-by-step makeup video to recreate the arched eyebrow and high cheekbones of Maleficent.

The make up of the sorceress is more on highlights, so less make up products can be used. Colored contact lenses come in handy along with the long, fierce nails that Maleficent has.
Angelina Jolie gets in character as Maleficent with rigorous preparation, especially with her prosthetics and make up. Angelina’s portrayal of the elegant villain, and her complementing look, have upped the bar for future villains.

MAC cosmetics even came up with a complete Maleficent makeup line which includes a lipstick, lip pencil, lip gloss, eyeliner, eyeshadow palette, eyebrow pencil, sculpting powder, beauty powder, prime highlighter and even nail lacquer.

These items are a little bit pricey, but if you are willing to shell out some bucks, then the MAC makeup line can give you an ever more authentic Maleficent look.

Whatever it takes, if it means doing something for what's good for the children, then by all means AJBP can do whatever they want more than anything else. The public's opinion and even that of their fans do not matter anymore, as long as what they are only trying to do is TO PROTECT THEIR CHILDREN.

I don't mind if we are right or wrong with our opinions about the JPs , what matters most is the JP family and that's AJBP's main concern and NOT whether we still like them or NOT.

Can we just trust AJBP for whatever courses of action they are taking now..

Can we just give the respect, understanding & patience that they deserve..

Can we just stop speculating & judging them...

Can we just let them do things with regards to their family situation in their own way..

Can we just let AJBP be parents to their family...

Can we just forget for a while that they are our fave celebrities BUT just regard them as human beings like us who have feelings but undergoing difficult time right now...

Can we just wait and let things unfold as they will..

Can we just let them be.

AJBP do not deserve our character judgements on them based on the tabloids & blogs.

Dirty blogs & tabloids are out there to SIMPLY get hits & make more money.... and they are using the JPs to the fullest.

We fans should know better than that and we should give them more understanding and be more thoughtful & extra cautious with our opinions & comments especially at this critical time.

Also, there are more important factors that AJBP may have considered in taking actions that is NOT usual for them. Some may NOT like it, but what's the point, it's THEIR LIFE. They have to make decisions, no matter how UNUSUAL it may seem to some. LIKING THEM/ ADMIRING them is NOT their agenda. It's their FAMILY that is at stake now.

For all we know, everything they do now MUST have a reason which we definitely DON'T KNOW ABOUT. We cannot give harsh judgements simply because their motivations is unclear to us.

So please let us be patient.... be more understanding... and spread optimism, instead of HATRED & NEGATIVITY. Hating AJBP because of their choice of actions that pertains to their family is not just fair.

Affordable Testing For Those At Higher Risk Of Breast Cancer
Until now genetic testing could cost as much as $2000.

13/10/2016 5:33 AM AEDT | Updated 16 hours ago

Leigh Campbell
Head of Lifestyle, HuffPost Australia

As well as testing for BRAC1 and BRCA2 mutations, the new genetic testing grant program will analyse up to 30 gene types linked to breast, ovarian and prostate cancer.

In 2013 Angelina Jolie made headlines for revealing her BRCA1 status and as a result opted for a double mastectomy. Since then it has been reported that wait times for genetic counselling have skyrocketed.

Aussie women and men at increased risk of breast cancer (and women ovarian cancer) have, until now, had to undergo genetic testing to the cost of around $2000, though today Pink Hope announced it's Genetic Testing Grants Program which aims to offer affordable testing at around $200.

The first not-for-profit program of its kind in Australia, the grants program offers a discount of up to 90 percent and it is understood that the Pink Hope program is the most affordable in Australia.

Currently, publicly funded genetic testing for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes is available within the health system, to those at high risk and who meet certain criteria. A person being tested must have more than a 20 percent likelihood of a gene mutation or have a personal history of breast or ovarian cancer and have a 10 percent likelihood of a gene mutation, as assessed by a genetic counsellor. Those who do not meet this criteria can still be tested, but must pay for it at a cost of anywhere between $800 and $2000.

Since Angelina Jolie announced her BRCA1 status, wait times for genetic counselling have skyrocketed.

At first, the Pink Hope Genetic Testing Grants Program aims to help those who are at moderate to high risk who have just missed out on accessing free genetic testing through the public system, providing them access to private genetic testing at an affordable price.

Krystal Barter, founder of Pink Hope, who at 22 years of age underwent genetic testing and a subsequent preventative double mastectomy said the organisation's program will hopefully address the current pressures faced by Australia's public Familial Cancer Centres.

"Our public system is under increasing pressure to meet the demand for genetic counselling, which soared after Angelina Jolie told the world of her decision to have her breasts and ovaries removed after finding out she had the BRCA1 gene mutation. "Through her story, women and men felt empowered to take control of their future and take preventative measures to save their lives," Barter said in a brand statement.

"However, wait lists for genetic counselling have been inundated, with some up to 12 months long, and as long as two years in regional centres. Further support and resources need to be directed to this in demand area of healthcare," Barter said.

As part of the program Pink Hope is partnering with U.S. organisation 'Barbells for Boobs' who is providing the funding support to those women in need, and who wish to access genetic testing, via the grant system.

Research from Queensland health showed that in the last 10 years the number of women undergoing breast surgery who do not have cancer or have not had a diagnosis increased 876 per cent.

Pink Hope's Genetic Testing Grants Program will be available to Australians from November 2016, accessed and purchased online, following a consultation with a genetic counsellor or qualified healthcare professional.

The genetic testing kit, being provided by U.S. organisation Colour Genomics will provide an analysis of 30 genes (including BRCA1 and BRCA2) associated with an increased risk for the most common hereditary cancers, including breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. After the testing kit is received, further to being requested by a physician, all that is required is a simple saliva sample -- provided at home, or within clinic -- before the kit is returned to Colour Genomics.

IMO, topics based on UNRELIABLE & UNCLEAR blogs & sources are not healthy discussions as this would lead to UNNECESSARY & HURTFUL disagreements.

Sure, people have different or varied opinions BUT if the basis of discussion is from trashy rags, mags & blogs, I don't think this would help AJBP whom we hope only good things for them especially in this challenging time in their family.

I still hope that a lot of people would rather exchange opinions & comments based on SUBSTANTIATED news & NOT speculated sources.

Brad Pitt’s Plan B Team Explains How They Discover Bold Films Like ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Lost City of Z’

The co-presidents of the company responsible for two New York Film Festival titles explain their thinking behind the varied projects they're tackling at the moment.

Eric Kohn

Oct 15, 2016 11:00 am

“The Lost City of Z”

Brad Pitt has a famous face, but these days, his name is even more ubiquitous on projects that he doesn’t star in.

Plan B,the production company Pitt co-founded with Brad Grey and Jennifer Aniston in 2001, has gained traction in recent years as one of the most significant entities supporting auteur-driven work in the United States. In 2013, the company helped bring Steve McQueen’s Oscar-dominating “12 Years a Slave” to fruition. Over the next two years, the company’s highlights included Ava DuVernay’s “Selma” and Adam McKay’s “The Big Short,” both of which struck a marked contrast to more traditional studio offerings. Earlier this fall, the company unveiled “The Voyage of Time,” Terrence Malick’s cosmic documentary about the origins of the universe.

But there may be no better demonstration of Plan B’s current focus than the two films it produced that screened this month at the New York Film Festival: Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight,” a decade-spanning look at the life of a young gay black man in Miami, and James Gray’s ambitious “The Lost City of Z,” a rough-hewn adventure drama about British explorer Percy Fawcett’s lifelong attempt to discover a mythical city in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. (A24, which co-produced “Moonlight,” will release the film on October 21; “The Lost City of Z” will be released by Amazon and Bleecker Street next year.) Both movies couldn’t have been made by the traditional Hollywood studio system; they’re singular works that reflect the creative freedoms of their directors, and Plan B provided a crucial foundation for them to exist.

“Moonlight”

For the last three years, Plan B’s operations rely on the efforts of two leading individuals, co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. While Pitt remains focused on several of his own movies, Gardner and Kleiner do the bulk of the work involved in setting up new projects and scouting for talent. In the following excerpts from a recent conversation, the duo talk about how they find projects these days and what sort of filmmakers they’re looking to support.

DEDE GARDNER: We spend a lot of time reading, a lot of time watching movies in small corners of libraries and hotel rooms. It’s probably our favorite thing to do. We fall in love with a movie and we reach out. We ask to meet, see more work and listen to what they’re interested in, what world they want to live in, what stories they want to tell. Time and time again, those conversations can result in movies. They just need to be had in an honest space. The only intentions will ever be to continue the conversation, and not think about these things as products, but adventures that we might embark on together.

JEREMY KLEINER: Brad Pitt has encouraged a culture of that: watching and trying to understand what an artist is doing and what they want to say. It’s stating the obvious, but it’s not peripheral. If you’re inspired by something, if something grabs you, if you read about something that causes you to be curious about it, follow the curiosity and see where that takes you. That philosophy has led us to some very interesting people and their films. He’s a very supportive, intellectually curious and passionate partner. We’re very, very lucky for that.

DG: Brad’s involvement sort of depends on the movies. He likes our movies, obviously, but he has created a space for us to work that is, I would suggest, entirely singular. By that I mean that he believes in the shelf life of movies, he doesn’t believe in the notion that a movie has to see a successful opening weekend to work. He reminds us all the time of the movies that we discovered long after their initial release, and he believes that we should tell stories that we feel like we would die if we didn’t. He feels like we should work as hard as we can because what we do is a privilege. It’s enabled us to be very liberated in our ambitions. It lets us really stretch, because we feel incredibly supported and blessed to chase our passions.

We’ve been trying to get James Gray’s movie made for, what, eight years?

JG: Nine years.

DG: Our instincts feel the same as they always have: What stories do we want to tell and with whom do we want to tell them? We love filmmakers, we love directors, we love writers. And we certainly love movies that ask questions and make people think and ask questions to themselves. In an interesting way, both “Moonlight” and “Lost City of Z” have people at the center who evolve, shape-shift and wonder, “What will I be remembered for? What is my purpose here? How do I ensure keeping the bar raised for myself?”

JK: We’re also interested in the counterintuitive: James is writer-director, Barry Jenkins is a writer-director, Mike White is a writer-director, Bong Joon-Ho is a writer-director…

DG: Andrew Dominik is a writer-director.

JK: Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling, with whom we’re doing another show at Netflix. That’s another very personal, intimate collaboration. David Michod is a writer-director, Felix Van Groeningen is a writer-director. We don’t need to list everybody, but the common thread is…

DG: Adam McKay!

JK: Adam McKay is a writer-director. Maybe there’s something about people who write and direct that draws us in — they feel very specific, very authored, they’re very much the point of view of somebody that causes people to see the world in a potentially new way or tell a story with new insight. That’s very appealing.

DG: We’re just holding on for dear life like everyone else in some regards. The landscape for distribution is constantly changing. Just as an example, we had a pretty significant experience with “The Normal Heart.” We tried for years and years to make that as a feature, and we ended up making it as a movie for HBO. Millions and millions of people saw it. I don’t believe that would have happened if we’d been able to make it as a feature. We couldn’t get the money to do that. We’re learning as we go. We certainly make stories to be seen and we’re very curious to see how these next couple years of releases unfolds and what that means for eyeballs. But we also love sitting in a dark theater. So I hope that there’s room for all of it to exist.

Brad Pitt is 'the greatest' despite missing Lost City of Z premiere

'The Lost City of Z' director James Gray thinks Brad Pitt is the "greatest guy" - despite the Hollywood star missing the movie's world premiere.

Brad, 52, served as a producer on the new action-adventure biographical film and although he was absent from its opening at the New York Film Festival, James has remained close to the actor throughout his high-profile separation from actress Angelina Jolie.

James shared: "I've exchanged a lot of emails with him. I love him to death. I've been here, obviously, not there. I'll see him soon. He is the greatest guy."

James admitted that the movie would not have been possible without his good friend.

He told PEOPLE: "I owe him a huge debt. He was the one who sent the book [that inspired the film] to me and he's the one who's stuck by me for many, many years. And I've got nothing but love for that guy."

Breast Cancer Awareness Quotes 2016: 15 Inspirational Quotes To Share With Friends And Family

Oct 1, 2016 06:38 AM By Suman Varandani

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month when worldwide annual campaigns are carried out to highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness, education and research. Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the breast and can gradually spread to other parts of the body.

With the help of regular mammography screening, breast cancers can be found at an early stage. The most common sign of breast cancer is a lump formation in the breast. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, except for skin cancers. About 1 in 8 women in the U.S. may develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime.

Breast cancers can start from different parts of the breast, with the most common ones beginning in the ducts that carry milk to the nipple (ductal cancers). Some start in the glands that make breast milk (lobular cancers). It can spread through the lymph system, which includes lymph nodes, lymph vessels and lymph fluid found throughout the body.

According to the American Cancer Society, there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.
Breast Cancer has got to be a priority to ensure that more women can access gene testing and lifesaving preventive treatment, whatever their means and background, wherever they live." - Angelina Jolie

To be supporter of AJBP as a couple, one cannot promote either of them by bringing either of them down especially that they are each other's significant other. They are two respected individuals who have achieved so much success in their lives. They are not each other's competitors. The success of one, is the success of another. They are ONE UNIT. You hurt one, you hurt the other as well.

Re new AJ photos surfaced

Just because AJP is seen for the first time after she filed for divorce doesn't necessarily mean she's house-hunting or whatever speculations anyone can think of with regards to the pic.

That's the problem with tabloids such as ET & the like, they make so many guesses and relayed the news as fact as if telling the whole picture. Image is just an image, one cannot automatically interpret where she goes & what's her motives. Can't she live her life without people dissecting every action or appearance she makes.

Among the famous people who separated, theirs is just different.

That's  why I am holding on to the unusual reason for the filing of divorce by AJP and the official statements both of them have made. Their statements don't sound showbiz or trying to give us or the public any false hopes. No, they are NOT telling that. Just very short & direct. It is just for 'family situation' or 'health of the family'. More than anything, they are actually dealing with it right now with utmost importance & priority. It is what it is. It is for them, their family, NOT for us, not for entertainment,  if you know what I mean.

Call me an optimist but i have to say I must also be realistic about the outcome of their marriage. However, considering that there are NO substantiated facts that will prove they are already hopeless despite the filing of divorce & the photos being surfaced without the other members of the family, my heart & mind is still telling me to wait, wait and wait.

IMO, it's NOT yet FINAL UNTIL it's FINAL.

I admit I was also curious what would happen on some dates/ deadlines mentioned BUT on second thought, I told myself I should NOT be anticipating for something I am certainly NOT very sure of for the simple reason I really don't know what was advised on them, what was being discussed, what are the "ins" & "outs". In other words, I am NOT privy to their private lives, thus all I have to do is wait for their next moves. In this way, I avoid disappointments if nothing new is happening. I'll just wait.

I totally agree with your assessment!!! This needed to be done for whatever reason, a reason that WE DO NOT KNOW. If there is/was an ongoing 'investigation' with DCFS, Angie and Brad need to take this route in order to make it plain and simple THAT NOTHING in the form of abuse happened. Angie needed to do this to protect their children. DCFS, does not play around when it comes to abuse of minor children, they would not hesitate one second in putting the children into foster care, no one minute.
